Jess Izen

Jess Izen is a software engineer at AWS, currently serving full time as Engineer in Residence at the Rust Foundation. Her main focus is strengthening crates.io supply chain security. She also maintains axum, tower-http, the Rust runtime for AWS Lambda, and other Rust projects.

More broadly, she works with maintainers, Rust Project teams, the Foundation, and companies to support upstream work with funding, engineering time, and production experience. She is also a member of the Rust Project’s Funding Advisors team and helped establish the Rust Commercial Network. A core principle of her work is maintainer autonomy: company support should give maintainers more options without buying control over technical direction.
